Okha, Sakhalin, March 25-26, 2017 - Okha hosted the 7th Stars of the Northern Capital festival. The festival has become one of the biggest cultural events for the residents of Sakhalin north. The event is organized by the Okha Community Center with support from the Okha District Administration. Exxon Neftegas Limited, the Sakhalin-1 Project Operator, is a traditional sponsor of the event since the very first festival.
Every year the festival includes a special theme competition for the dance and music groups, vocal groups and others.
Two contests featured the festival this year. One of them was a Theatrical Kaleidoscope that offered small stage performances. The other one was the World of Theatre – World of Fantasies arranged as an exhibition of children’s drawings also took place.
Theatrical Kaleidoscope gathered 150 participants from the Okha District children’s and youth art groups who made 22 performances for judges.
An art group Zateiniki children’s theatre (Larisa Nevzorova – Stage Director) won the Gran-Prix that will allow the actors to take part in any national contest across Russia.
Other contestants were recognized with diplomas in various nominations.
Apart from the contests, the festival also offered acting workshops for children by Yulia Khabarova, an Associate Professor of the Khabarovsk State Institute of Culture, and Natalya Sharkova, Actress and Theatrical Director of the Chekov Theatre.
