Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Russia, November 4, 2016 - An event unusual for Sakhalin – a robotics contest – took place on November 4th at Lyceum No. 2. The contest participants included Lyceum students attending this subject-oriented extracurricular class.
The Rules of the contest were strictly enforced – in the morning 10 two-person teams were given the task to build a robot, and a few hours later they were required to present completed projects (assembled robots) for evaluation. The contest jury evaluated the robots based on the successful completion of certain engineering tasks, as well as algorithms.
This event, which is unusual for Sakhalin, was made possible by the grant project The School of the Future – Today, Professional – Tomorrow which was carried out jointly by Lyceum No. 2 and Exxon Neftegas Limited (ENL). In 2016 the Lyceum purchased special robotics modules and the necessary components with the financial support of ENL, which provided $19,000 to make the project a reality. In addition, the teachers were granted opportunity to complete specialized education training in Moscow.
We congratulate all contest participants, hoping they will acquire new knowledge and skills that will help them become better professionals.
