Support of cultural and sport projects

Culture

Sakhalin-1 on behalf of the Sakhalin-1 Consortium supported a number of projects initiated by cultural institutions. For example, the Stars of the Northern Capital festival. The idea of the festival popped up in October 2010 during the Sakhalin-1 Odoptu first oil celebration.
Since then, the festival has become an important event in the cultural life of the northern Sakhalin. The festival theme changes each year: in different years it was dedicated to dancers, musicians, vocalists, and theater lovers.     The municipal festival is a unique platform for talented children from different Sakhalin districts, while its jury board includes professional musicians, choreographers, actors and teachers from the Russian Far East Universities of Culture. The theme of 2019 festival was classical music.

Most of the cultural projects sponsored by ENL are aimed to develop talents of children and youth.

We help teachers and culture workers to develop children’s personality harmoniously and raise cultural awareness of the community through supporting kids’ artistic groups, musical schools, and culture and recreation centers. The projects are aimed to create favorable conditions for children to fulfill their creative potential. Thanks to ENL support, the schools of arts purchased required equipment, musical instruments and costumes.  Such regular renewal of their resources has positive impact on the educational process, drums up children interest in arts, and provides more training aids for teachers.

Sports

Sakhalin-1 Consortium supports the initiatives aimed to develop children and youth sports and promote healthy lifestyle in the communities.

Skiing is the most popular winter sport on Sakhalin. This fact can be easily explained by Sakhalin snowy winters. One can start skiing from the cradle and continue until a great age, being a professional sportsman or a regular physically fit person, but anyway enjoying it and gaining health benefits. Sakhalin-1 Consortium is a partner of a large-scale project called Skis for Schools, supports the biggest ski races on Sakhalin (Troitskoe Ski Marathon and Ski Race in Nogliki), and takes every effort to make this sport affordable and  attractive for everyone.

Through our long-standing cooperation with the Sakhalin Soccer Federation, a number of young Sakhalin soccer players is growing every year.  In 2020 there were only 17 teams participating in the regional cup of the Leather Ball, now there are about 45. The competition facilitators believe that support and incentives of such sponsor as Sakhalin-1 Consortium are boosting interest and passion of young soccer players.

Another example of a long-term sport project sponsored by Company:  field and track relay race among Sakhalin city and village schools and orphanage teams. The competition was first conducted in 2011, and in 2019, for the first time ever, included teams from the Russian Far East came to compete with Sakhaliners, thus moving the competition to the next professional level. It should be noted that for the years of the completions, the interest of schoolchildren to relay races is growing along with their physical fitness.
