Sakhalin-1 wins the Social Partner award in the Sakhalin Benefactors contest

ENL, Sakhalin-1 project operator, implements a large scale charity program on behalf of the international Sakhalin-1 Consortium which includes Japanese SODECO, SMNG-Shelf and RN-Astra (NK Rosneft, PJSC affiliates) and Indian ONGC Videsh state-owned oil company.

The Sakhalin-1 Consortium charity is focused on social projects on education, healthcare, culture, sport and preservation and development of indigenous minority peoples’ culture.

74 projects were supported in Sakhalin in 2019, the largest of which include the following:

  • Support of purchase of state-of-the-art medical equipment for the Sakhalin Oblast children’s hospital, oncology center, Nogliki and Okha district hospitals, to enhance medical capabilities in patients’ diagnostics and treatment.
  • The educational project that has been implemented jointly with Sakhalin State University and the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas for three years to enable Sakhalin students to study under the special program of the Russia’s leading oil and gas university, pass exams and get two diplomas of the Sakhalin State University and the Gubkin Russian State University.
  • Eureka – Way to Success is the educational project aimed at promoting schoolchildren’s interest in natural sciences and advanced study of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and other sciences.
  • The Skis to School project implemented jointly with the Sakhalin Oblast Ministry of Sport is focused on providing schools with sports equipment and promoting healthy life style among children.
  • The Sakhalin Oblast robotics forum held jointly with Sakhalin State University and other events are initiated to enhance robotics teaching in Sakhalin Oblast.
  • Support of the Uilta community to arrange children’s reindeer herding summer camp where kids can learn traditional household skills including  reindeer care; support of the Sakhalin delegation to the 2019 Treasures of the North trade fair of indigenous minority peoples of Russia and other events focused on preservation of Sakhalin indigenous minority peoples’ culture and traditions.
  • Stars of the Northern Capital folk art festival in Okha.
  • Support of large sport events including the Leather Ball children’s football tournament, Sakhalin ski races in Nogliki, Troytskoye ski marathon and the final of the Sakhalin schoolchildren relay race.
  • My Whale and School of Nature are environmental and educational projects implemented in partnership with Boomerang environmental club; Sustainability educational program is implemented jointly with the Rodnik environmental center.

Over 1.5 billion rubles have been spent to support over 1600 social initiatives over the years of the Sakhalin-1 project operations.
