The Fall Session of the Eureka – the Path to Success School Program comes to a close
Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Russia, November 4, 2016 - The fall session of the Eureka – the Path to Success school program at Lyceum No. 2 was officially closed on November 4th. It had been attended by 55 students in grades 9-11 who received intensive training in two areas: chemistry/biology and physics/mathematics.
The goal of the Eureka – the Path to Success project is to heighten the interest of Sakhalin school students for natural sciences and mathematics, as well as to identify and work closely with gifted and talented children. Since 2011 financial assistance for this project has been annually provided by Exxon Neftegas Limited. The project has been implemented jointly with the Sakhalin Oblast Ministry of Education and the Institute for the Advancement of Education, which coordinates and administers the project.
In May 2011, the Sakhalin Oblast Ministry of Education, the Institute for the Advancement of Education, and Exxon Neftegas Limited signed the first agreement to finance the Eureka project. Since then, under the auspices of the project the company has annually allocated resources to fund the educational sessions for students, to purchase state-of-the-art teaching aids, as well as to provide training for teachers and engage in many other educational activities.
